THE PROOF FOR GOD
1 Corinthians 2:9-12
[9] But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
[10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
[11] For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
[12] Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
The problem with "Proof" is that it is almost always physical. Sadly, there is very little physical evidence that can "prove" God exist...at least to someone who is wanting to doubt in the first place. You see, someone who is wanting "proof" of God's existence is always looking for some type of physical proof, and God must be experienced first on a Spiritual level.
The Bible teaches that God is a spirit being (John 4:24). Because of this, the physical realm can not prove He exist, it can only point to the probability that He does. However, God did not leave Himself without a witness. All of nature point to the fact that God exist (Acts 4:17 / Romans 1:20 ) yet, this fact does not prove He exist. This is why there is so many different views, and why people can look at the same physical evidence and come up with so many different conclusions. An Atheists scientist can look at some physical evidence and conclude we evolved and came into existence by a "big bang". Yet, at the same time, a Christian scientist can look at this evidence and see conclusive proof that God exists.
God must be proved within the spiritual realm. He must be experienced at a spiritual level, and He must be taught on a spiritual level. This is why God says we must come to Him by faith. Without faith, it is impossible to know, or please God (Heb. 11:6). Once a person comes to Him by faith, God makes Himself known to them on a spiritual level through His Holy Spirit. This spiritual proof can not be passed from one person to the next however. Each person must come to God through faith, on their own. My faith can not prove to you that God exist. Yet, my faith can, and should produce such fruit as to give testimony that He does exist, and to point a person in the right direction. (Matt. 5:16). In otherwords, nature, science, consciense, and personal experience and testimony can point a person to God, but they can not prove He exist. Only by comeing to God through faith can a person aquire the "proof" that they need, and only by learning about God through His Word (Holy Bible) can they aquire the faith they need to come to Him (John 6:63 / Romans 10:17)
So, when a person requires proof of God's existence, they are in a dangerous place. No physical proof that can be given will appease their minds, and their demand for proof will keeps them from coming to God by faith. Their desire for the physical proof becomes a stumbling block to them. The duty of a Christian is not to prove God's existence to such a person, but to help them, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to get past this stumbling block, and to get to a place they can come to God by faith.
One must abandon their lust for physical proof, and by faith, come to God. This is much like a little child, simply by faith, believes their parents and does what they say. In fact, God tells us that we must become as a little child in order to come to Him (Mark 10:15). It will be at that point that He will give them all the proof they seek. God will make Himself known to them, and will give them His Holy Spirit. This Holy Spirit will teach them the deep things of God, and will point them in the direction God would have them to go (1 Cor. 2:13). Then, and only then will they be able to see the physical world and recognize God's fingerprint all over it.
